Landscape photography is a tough hobby, and that's exactly why I love it. I've been getting my hands grubby with it ever since I was old enough to hold a camera, point, and shoot.
1990 - The die is cast. This was the year that my good friend got me into series photography. We often travel to some of the most beautiful and spectacular areas in the Southwest. At the time, a lot of these places were foreign to the general public. Professional photographers often tightly guard those secret locations of their photos. After taking photos of these landscapes, my fate as a photographer was sealed. I secured a 4X5 large format camera when digital photography was still in its infancy. When I entered one of the best of "The Wave" photos in a national photography contest, I won third-place prizes. As I accepted the prestigious Award, I knew that this is what I would do for the rest of my life.
Fast forward to 2010 when my daughter, Lilyan is old enough to shoot her own, I was able to pass on all the knowledge I learned from my years of shooting at different locations. She learns to be patient when waiting for the right light. All those getting up early to hike to a location for sunrise and stay up late to capture the evening light at sunset. She was able to produce some of the shoots that I would be very proud of as a dad..
